Main building
The University of Lapland main building is situated about 2,5 kilometers south of the Rovaniemi city centre. The main building hosts all of our faculties, the Lapland University Consortium Library, eight art galleries and two restaurants. The guest accommodation facilities are also located on campus in the immediate vicinity of the university main building. The architecture of the main campus is designed by Juhani Katainen Architects, also well-known for other major public building design projects in Finland.
The Arctic Centre in the Arktikum building
The Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland is located just off the Rovaniemi City Centre in the Arktikum building on the bank of River Ounasjoki. Organized and hosted by the Arktikum Science Centre, the Regional Museum of Lapland, and the Faculty of Art and Design of the University of Lapland, the exhibitions held in the Arktikum building attract about 130,000 visitors annually. In the immediate vicinity of the Arktikum building, the visitor can enjoy the seasonal beauty of the seven-hectare Arctic garden owned and run by the university.
The Teacher Training School
The Teacher Training School of the University of Lapland operates on its own premises near the city centre. The school has more than 500 pupils aged 7 to 15, and administratively it is part of the Faculty of Education. The majority of the teacher students in class teacher education complete their pre-service teacher training at the Teacher Training School.
