Sustainability transformation and social sustainability
The promotion of a social basis for well-being requires new insights and urgent solutions, as our actions have exceeded the carrying capacity of nature. The climate is getting hotter, species extinction is accelerating, natural resources are depleting and our activities are socially inequalising. Sustainability transformation and its promotion through sustainability research is a key area of research in our faculty. Sustainability transformation requires societal and cultural changes that enable an ecologically, socially, culturally and economically sustainable future. Sustainability research in education can contribute to these changes by strengthening the capacity of individuals and communities to act in sustainable ways and support the transition towards a more responsible and just society.
