Sociology of adult education, agency in Working Life and education

 Sociology of adult education emphasises social divisions and structures together with agency in education and working life. Spaces of adult learning are approached from different frames of living and studied from a multidisciplinary angle. The combined viewpoint of educational and social sciences localises knowledge on northern actors, continuous learning, expertise, structures of education and interaction with working life. At the same time as the Finnish population is aging, we are getting new immigrant learners and people with education are studying further. Aiming for equity requires accurate analyses on learning and working life trajectories and new contents of education politics. Sociology of adult education may, for its part, strengthen equalisation of society and social sustainability.
